Lisa Sandlos has been an active member of Toronto's dance community for more than 12 years as a dance educator, performer, choreographer, and events coordinator. Ms. Sandlos is the director of two programs in recreational modern and creative dance: The Young Contemporary Dancers of Toronto (teens) and Modern Movement (for adults). She has taught extensively in the school system through the Ontario Arts Council's Artists in Education program. She has taught workshops for children, teens, and teachers through the National Ballet of Canada's Creating Dances program and has been a guest teacher at the School of Classical Contemporary Dance, Ontario School of Ballet, McMaster University in Hamilton, and Estudio de Irma Montaro in Mexico City.

Ms. Sandlos' performing career has given her the opportunity to work with numerous choreographers including Yuri Ng, Menaka Thakkar, Sylvie Bouchard, Eve Lenzner, David Earle, Newton Moraes, Michelle Silagy, Judith Miller, Janet Lemon, Maxine Heppner, Robert McCollum, and Motus O Dance Theatre. In 1990, she co-founded the group dance Continuum, which produced performances and workshops for both adults and children. Her own independent choreography has been presented at the York Quay Centre at Harbourfront, Myth Productions, Dancemakers and the 8:08 Series in Toronto, at the Hamilton Summer Dance Festival, and in Miami, Florida.

Ms. Sandlos holds a Certificate in Movement Studies from the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), which enables her to work with a broad range of groups and individuals. She believes in a holistic approach to training, involving the mind, body and soul.

Ms. Sandlos has an M.A. in Dance from York University. She is a graduate of the School of Toronto Dance Theater and has a Diploma in Dance from George Brown College. Her other training includes programs at Ballet National de Cuba, L'Ecole Superieure de Danse de Quebec, the Banff School of Fine Arts, Tanz Wochen in Vienna and Simon Fraser University's Contemporary Arts Summer Institute. In addition to her dance studies, Ms. Sandlos has trained in Pilates at Second Wind Studios, attended workshops in Body Mechanics and Joint Mobilization with Peggy Baker and Irene Dowd, and studied Laban Movement Analysis at the Laban Institute of Movement Studies (LIMS) in New York City.

Ms. Sandlos is currently a Ph D candidate in Women's Studies at York University, and mother of 3 year old Maya and 1 year old Zachary.
